Thank you for being here! With this blog, I'll share my small business journey in hopes of inspiring and encouraging others in the early stages of their own ventures and keeping Common Wall followers apprised of what we're up to.
Early on, I spent a lot of time seeking out the firsthand experiences of others as they navigated cottage baking laws, the ins and outs of vending at events, challenges of scaling production in a home kitchen, and the hurdles that come with putting yourself out there to promote your work. I hope that as I continue to learn and grow this business, others will find my perspective useful.
Let me introduce myself more formally. My name is Miranda Accardi and early in 2025, with a passion for making and sharing good food and the support of my husband and two sons, I took the leap into starting a home-based bakery business here in Fort Thomas, KY.

I was raised rural Falmouth, KY, where I came to feel at home outdoors and to deeply love and appreciate the natural world and the farm-to-table aspect of food. My mom, an incredibly skilled cook and baker herself, didn't just show me the basics of feeding your family. She taught me to be creative and resourceful with food, never afraid to try something new, but also to appreciate the traditions that have been passed down in our family.
Nowadays, I work a full-time office gig and have been a bit of a serial hobbyist in arts, crafts, music, metaphysics, and gardening. Oh, and since it will probably come up in future posts, baseball. I am a diehard Cincinnati Reds fan and during baseball season, I most definitely have the game on in the background as I test recipes, marathon bake on a Saturday, or pretty much anything.
I set out with a goal of immersing myself in the community around artisan goods, forging lasting connections within, to support artists, farmers and other small businesses in their endeavors in a meaningful way. I've been fortunate to feel welcomed and find others responding in kind. To that end, I hope to shout out and interview others in this space. I spoke with the good folks and LINK nky recently about this journey, which you can read here.
Alongside the bakery startup conversation, what you'll find here will include recipes, test kitchen trials, local NKY and Cincinnati events, and reviews. I'll challenge myself to get better at photography and social media and share those experiences, as well.

That's a nice introduction, that describes you well. I look forward to future articles.
